I’m so happy right now! I finally see which work they decided to publish in the trillium which is the literary and arts magazine of Ramapo College, my alma mater. I’m glad they picked this one, it’s pretty good if I do say so myself hehe.
I just wish I knew what they all thought and said about it. What my professor Shannon said as well. I just know they liked it enough to include it, and they only had 16 poems total including mine so I feel so blessed and awed and really surprised. I didn’t think I’d make it but I did! So awesome.
It’s been a dream of mine to publish in the literary magazine at Ramapo. I’ve been kicking myself for not submitting the previous years but I’m glad I decided to do it this year which was my last chance anyway. I’m so proud of myself! And ecstatic too!
I just hope I get a physical copy sometime soon so hopefully I can get someone to hand me one. I can’t wait to update my resume hehe.
I just know that this is the first step of many towards my publish dream job. I don’t know if I’ll become an editor, writer, journalist, literary agent, author, book seller, librarian, or whatever but I just know that I WILL enter the publishing industry. This dream of mine will happen. I’ll make sure it will.
Make no mistake. I’m gonna ensure my words will get out there in print and internet form. This is what I’m meant to do.
Man it feels good to admit it. This is exactly what I’m born to do. I will write. I will create. I will inspire others and make my point of view known.
This is an exciting time in my life. I’m glad you’re joining me.
And oh yeah, I was also published in the BGA literary magazine, Reflections. Maybe one day I’ll post a photo of the poem up.
Please look at the Trillium! I think they did a fantastic job with creating it, I loved the format, the font choice, the cover, and I can tell they picked high quality work. I also love their editorial vision of picking bizzare imagery and work hehe. I wish I was a part of the selection process or hell just any lit magazine really.
But one day I will. That’s another literary fantasy for me.
And when I do, you best believe they’ll be another tumblr post on that. And then another and another and another until my dreams run out or I die.
And I have a feeling I’ll be deceased long before my dreams end. I never want to stop believing in myself. And I hope you won’t either.
Here’s the poem just in case the link clonks out or whatever:
Crowding and growing
down your sore throat,
A scum moss built-up
from the unsaid.
Careful, it’s leaking
out of your mouth.
Just sear your tongue.
Let it subside.
And when it returns,
recall your burn
I hope you enjoyed it :). I wrote this while I was creating my final portfolio for my introduction to creative writing and poetry class with professor hoch. Great man he is. This was back in Fall 2009. Definitely don’t regret taking that class.
And I think I’m going to return to creating poetry. Sad to say I haven’t written a poem since that semester. I better change that. I think I have a talent for it. He did say that I have a knack for short, concise poems. And he encouraged me to stretch my lines out. I think I’ll do both and make him proud.
I cannot wait to see what dream will come true next. I’ve gotta feeling that it’s coming soon. And it’s going to be wonderful.
You can bet on it.
So yeah, this is my post about my poem that got published in this year’s trillium. The last time I was published was in my junior year in high school for Reflections, the literary magazine. I wish I submitted more stuff over those years as well. I wonder if I was published my senior year with the poems we created in AP English? Maybe not. Oh well.
Anyway, I hope this is the first of many posts of me announcing that I was published. How kickass would that be?!?! I even made a tag: #published, to ensure it hehe.
And it will, I’ll make sure of it.
And oh! If you happen to be there, please pick up two copies for me, just in case I lose one. I’d love to have it! And I don’t think I’ll be coming back since they’ll be mailing out diplomas in September. It’d be a nice addition to my future solo apartment bookshelf of publications hehe.
