Words I Held

on an ideal day I'd touch Everything

Everyday I want to create. Whether it's shooting a photo, jotting down a daydream, or filing up a color box, I wish for my hands to be involved and not glued to my phone as usual. These following items I'd like to keep in my bag as well as play with at home--access granted for all time hehe.

Small champagne leather envelope wallet that holds rolodex cards, notepad, and a pocket for ephemera

It's namely for my skyview rolodex project which I fell off of unfortunately. Where I have a heteronym named Sky, a depressed & lonely Filipina American woman who connects to others through guerrilla art. I've done some real life guerrilla art as her and I want to continue. Still have some projects I haven't upload to the IG. But I'll get there.

Anyway, it's a good way to bring this project with me without lugging her mini rolodex around. I can cut out ephemera and place them in the pocket and take notes at new places I can leave objects in. Any thoughts I'd feel like she'd have there. I got this for like a quarter at My Unique thrift shop when it's originally 69 cents! A steal either way hehe. It's extremely pretty and I adore it. Most of the items here I got while thrifting. I love keeping the price tag on them hehe.

Red leather envelope holds postcards, stamps, letters, & WIPs

I have placed sheets of stamps in my bag and they tend to get stuck on other items as I go through the day. I found this really cool $4 baby at Bucky's The Closet which is a great thrift shop in Manville. It's also good to hold any postcards I buy when I'm out or want to fill out. As well as any letters I'm writing and any works in progress I have that I can fit. Best leather good I have hehe.

Sidewalk Cartomancy reference cards & notebook with scratchoffs from the ground & notes.

I got an amazing targeted ad from IG: Birchwood Palace's Sidewalk Cartomancy Cards. First purchase from such an ad in a while. They refer to ephemera you find on the ground: Pokémon cards, playing cards, lottery tickets, scratchoff discards. I've been finding a bunch of the scratchies, especially by the Tobacco Barn by me that sells lotto hehe. They tend to be negative results but it's fun to collect them and I'm cleaning up litter yay. I like noting where I found them and what they mean. It's a cool creative exercise and I'm hoping I can find their brethren hehe. As an aside, I'd love to collect a full deck of playing cards from the street, that would be neat.

H35N half frame kodak film camera with pouch

I impulse bought this while online shopping at B&H Photo Video. I wanted a new half frame camera which doubles your film by taking 1/2 photos. So you can get up 72 shots on a single roll! I put in some expired film (whoops) and working on filling it up. I wanna try to make some cool diptychs.

Thick Muji beat up notebook

Where I wrote the rough draft of this blog hehe. I really want to start filling up my notebooks and this is a good start. I wanna take it around so I always have a space to write things down. Sometimes a phone isn't a good place 'cuz I'd forget about it while playing a video or doom scrolling. A notebook makes it more tangible and encourages flow, and better ideas. The notes app doesn't always provide that.

Black plastic Caliber index card box with tabs & colorful array of index cards.

I bought this at the GoodWill for $1.99 and it has a bunch of tabs I can label & holds a great deal of index cards. I wanna use it for making sample cards for my card catalog open calls. And to give folks to encourage them to submit. I'd like to carry stamped SASE envelopes with my PO box too and hopefully printed zines with the open call prompts eventually when they're ready.

Neon smiley face Heyday one-time use camera

I talked about these in an earlier post and I haven't good with using them. I definitely want to take more photos, especially themed ones, before the month ends. Be more dedicated with filling them up. Maybe take photos with me and my boyfriend finally. It's been over TWO YEARS without a proper photo together! I hate that haha.

BATES rolodex with blue DREAM ipsy pouch.

The project I'm currently focusing on which I'm pitching for some art shows. I'm actually writing tings I'll never reproduce online. I like that it makes the interactive experience more special & intimate that way. I wanted to go thrifting for a pouch but found this in a box and it belonged to my baby sis. I remembered she didn't want it so yay! I sent the apps over the weekend and hopefully I'll get in. I'm gonna work on them as if I did hehe. There's 490 cards and I want to do front AND back. Someone's gotta do it haha.

An Ache PANTONE swatch set with pink floral pouch

Another project I need to pick back up. I want to make each color box from circa 1999 connect to the next. It's for a friend's future group art show. I wanna make it in time though there is no set date yet. I needed a pouch because it kept on getting beat up in my purse. I found this really pretty one at my favorite thrift shop My Unique, for like under $4. The theme of the show is Sad Girl Rage and I wrote my initial thoughts about what it could be on my site here. It'd feel amazing to complete all 2000+ blocks.

Extreme post-it notes, books I'm reading, zines I'm gifting.

With these post-it notes, you can post them anywhere and it'll stick. I had one up for over a year through rain, sleet, high wind, and snow. Alwawys wanna carry books with me--this round Bennett Sims' A Questionable Shape and Cake Zine: Candyland. Really great reads so far and I'll be gifting them to some Internet friends. I also wanna carry copies of my zines I'll gift to folks or leave in little free libraries or public places. Also any copies of books I've enjoyed and read to. I'm really hoping to have the card catalog zine ready like I've mentioned before.

Not pictured, a pouch of gel pens, paint markers, sharpies, markers, pens, scissors, glue stick, and stickers. Can't go around without it, just need to find the bag first hehe. Also an old CVS meds paper bag to put in any ephemera I find on the ground or elsewhere hehe.

A great day would be getting involved in all of the above. Even I spend it at home for the most part, I'd still choose it. I just want to make more with my mind and hands. Go for art shows, support my open calls, really engage with my lust for life that lies outside of my cell phone. I've grown too addicted to that damn screen and I really need to ease on the tether. Just be more mindful of how I conduct my precious time in the Anthropocene. Hopefully reach out to people more and truly connect. I'm worried about a lot of things and none of that does me any good. It doesn't fix anything really and it's truly getting to me now.

I hope you're creating something you're proud of. And if you're not, it's never too late to start. I wish you well and a wonderful week ahead. Take care.
