Bicoastal Press will be at Table 95!

Image Description: A table map of @sfzinefest 2024, on gray background and red font, it reads “Bicoastal Press will be at Table 95!”. There are yellow and red arrows pointing to a black table 95 in the center of the room.

I’m elated to announce that Vicky & I will be vending at San Francisco Zine Fest! It’ll be our first event as Bicoastal Press and I’m super happy that I’ll get to hug her again. I’ll have ten zines for sale, half are brand new and I never sold before.

I haven’t been to California since my first psychotic break in 2007. I’ve always been scared to but I know I’m a lot more stable, happier, and hopeful now. I never tabled outside of New Jersey and New York so I’m super excited that we got accepted. Vicky has given me so much and supported me through a lot of struggles. I am grateful for her friendship and care.

If you’re free Sunday, September 1st, and in San Francisco, please visit us at table 95! I’d love to see you.

The following are the ten zines I’ll be slinging and their excerpts:

Image Description: close calls envelope and its contents. It’s all centered around the theme of a mattress and was originally for my Let’s Play: Wayward Sentences class. On a thrifted envelope with a blue illustration of an island, palm trees, mountain, and a cloud, in the center is a black custom rubber stamp message that reads “close calls by Eileen Ramos Edition No 25 of 75 www.eileenramos.com/close-calls/ @wordsiheld”. There will be a unique message on pink lined paper, this one reads in rose gold marker “You are enough. You always have been. And I’ll remind you of your wonder every chance I get.” There’s also a piece of paper with a background of used mattress with my contact info mentioned above, along with my email address wordsiheld at gmail dot com. It lists my snowball constraints, starting from one word, then two, and so on. There are meant to inspire art and writing: “1. sheer 2. absence imprinted 3. lose the hours 4. shadows on the wall 5. end the day absolutely furious 6. it all finally made complete sense 7. just watch where light pours in”. On top are three photos, the bigger on has a blue abandoned mattress with silver blooms. With graffiti of blue marker it reads “Hold On - Sky”. Then there are two smaller photos of the same mattress but blank so folks can write on them. You can read all the constraints and possibilities here.

Image Description: an excerpt of “A Pocket of Daydreams” mini zine made by my fictional protagonist, Sky, who is a depressed Filipina American who creates guerrilla art to connect with others. On cream paper it reads in black dymo label tape “ALL I WANT IS TO FEEL OKAY. IF I CANNOT BE GOOD NOR ENOUGH PLEASE LET ME BE OKAY. HOW DO I MOVE FORWARD EVEN BELIEVE IT CAN EXIST”. She went over it with white gel pen in the original for the letters to show more.
